Adventure Begins
A downloadable asset pack
The time has come to embark on a great adventure. From the beloved village to the mysterious forests and ruins, through vast plains; across lively rivers and hot deserts - marching on towards your very first dungeon!
Adventure Begins is a collection of 16x16 tiles, inspired by the late 90s era of handheld action rpgs and rpgs, carefully crafted to push classic pocket hardware to the very edge.
The entire pack (unlocking at 14,99$) features:
- more than 15 different terrains (single tiles and composeable)
- 5 different cliff tiles, with variations, caves and stairs
- 6 different trees and a composeable jungle ...and a biiig tree!
- drywall and grassy mound ruins
- animated water (shallow, deep, sea, waterfalls, cliffs and rocks - and more!)
- village houses, decorations and bridges
- desert tiles, dunes and an ancient city
- Three palette variations: daytime, sunset and night.
- planned updates and extras from the discord workshop!
A selection of tiles is availableas a free version!
Rpgmaker support is coming.
For both versions of the pack (demo and complete)
✔️ You can :
- Use these assets for personal and commercial projects.
- Adapt and modify these assets, their palette and their layout to match your project and needs.
❌ You can not :
- Claim these assets as yours.
- Distribute or sell those assets, even when modified.
- Use the assets for a NFT/metaverse/AI project.
🎞️ The only difference between the two versions is crediting: demo version requires crediting for either commercial or personal projects; whereas credits are not mandatory for the complete pack (but still very apreciated for the complete edition!).

I just bought your asset pack, It is very beautiful
soo... is this godot firendly? *peers*
had a look at the demo version, its pretty damn... well... gorgeus, are the animations just stills? im curious cause i kinda want this xD
Heyyy!! I would love to make it godot-friendly, but sadly I have zero knowledge of the system! Is there like a template I can adapt to?
I'm still working for rpgmaker optimization, but I'd love to include as many formats as possible, especially considering the overworld character expansion I'm releasing at the end of the month. :'>
At the moment animations for the complete pack are exported into 4 separate "general" tilesets, each showing a frame from the cycle!
humn, for templates, you could check This Link, its got a bunch of templates for diffrent types of, unfortunately, one of the godot images is broken, but if you go here and click "Assigning properties to multiple tiles at once" you can see the one godot recomends just above it, its the standard template but personaly i prefer this one since i feel its the optimal one.
will the expansion be a seperate pack or an addon to this pack? *peers* now im curious! and will there be monsters and minions and npcs in it? =D
so those seperate tiles, how are they set up? like most tileset with the *entire* "first" set followed by the second and so on? or individual tiles with its entire animation chain? (gods i wish i could doo the 2 peering eye balls here xD)
Amaaazing asset! Can you explain your patreon level 3? 20% discount of what, if there is only one asset and its already included on level 3? Thanks!
Hiii Vincent, thank you for asking! You ask a very relevant question indeed and I hope you don't mind if I go a bit in-depth about that: I will also add this answer as a FAQ on both platforms.
As a short answer: the 20% discount (30% for Lv.4 Geomancers) will be for future stand-alone or bundle asset packs, separate from the Adventure Series "starter pack".
An in-depth analysis:
1. The first expansion pack is called "Adventurers & Adversaries", features overworld characters and enemies will be available later this very month: https://zaebucca.itch.io/adventure-begins/devlog/681149/adventure-begins-adventu...
2. The second expansion pack is called "Adventure Below" and its two instalments (tilesets and character sprites, much alike Adventure Begins) will release mid-March and late-March.
3. A third, final expansion in two instalments (tilesets and sprites as usual) releases in April, completing the Adventure Series.
These packs will be included in patron's subscription for patrons as one-time, monthly codes at no added cost. Patrons, among other things, also get to partecipate in the process and give early feedback / ideas fore the new material through polls and workshops.
So, to sum it up:
Itch.io is tailored around developers or fans who would benefit ready-for-use, specific assets and resources once they are released/updated, whereas Patreon is meant as a long period comunity project that offers added perks and interaction (like personal art archives, HD collections, wallpapers, tutorials, discord, workshops and so on), with the added benefit of featuring new monthly, timed releases from itch.io.
Please let me know if there are any doubts!
This is amazing! I've been drooling about your art on twitter for years... I adore your style, it's an honor to make something with it :D
Providing help and support to devs means the world to me! I have been wanting to do this for a while and I am thrilled to see the results!
absolutely sugoi, as expected of Zaebucca sensei
Thank you peb! Trying my best!
These look like a storybook :)
I love the idea! Could very well be the palette in this case, making the asset look more like a fairytale aesthetic! I have in store some different aesthetics and ideas too in the (very!) near future! :')
This is EXCELLENT
Thank you spooky-precious!
This is legitimately BEAUTIFUL, rarely do you see pixel art look this good.
Thank you Nosferatube! I've been doing tilesets and pixel art for a while now, but I am very happy to finally bring that to others in a technical, gamedev related way! :')
La perfezione fatta a pixel. Il tuo lavoro prende tutta la bellezza e precisione della pixel art e va oltre. Potentissimo!
Grazie mille davvero Hairic! Sai, tileset e assets sono una materia anche in qualche modo tecnica, ma mi fa davvero piacere sapere che mantengano un po' di atmosfera!
Woah! A real wonder to see your stuff here! Always been a huge inspiration of mine! Your fantastic pixel work never fails to leave me inspired, cheers!
Thank you so much VEXED!! I made these tiles thinking mainly how those could help gamedevs - and pixel artists as well! Even if a single tile from the free demo can be of any help, then I will feel realized!
This looks SO good man!! Looking forward to future updates for sure.
Thank youuu! I've tried to convey all my love for classic games, and ultimately it's a style I enjoy so deeply... And yep! Extra tilesets, improved compatibility and layouts for rpgmaker and much more is coming
Awesome! Can't wait to see your sprites to go along with this style as well.
Incredible all around- The water animations in particular are absolutely stunning work- So much detail on every frame. Love it all!!
Thank you Hetreasky!! I've been working quite a lot on the water tiles and I'm pretty satisfied with the overall feeling and colors. I tried to stick to 4 frames to give a retro atmosphere (and rpgmaker compatibility), but balancing the details and stuff with animation is always tricky. :'
Ooh I think RPG Maker, at least the latest ones (MV's what I tinker in), are only 3 frame animated tile compatible! Still adore these all the same ^^
Gonna buy this just as soon as I can - your pixel art is crazy good and I can't wait to see more from this set!
Thank you so much Frogge!
I have already started development on the next batch of updates (both as new packs, bundles and overall quality and technical improvements for Adventure Begins) and I have even more ideas for the long run! I will try my best to also make this experience more partecipative to everyone: it is more fun and refreshing to implement lots of different ideas! :'>
Your asset pack is a true gem! The colors are solid, and everything looks awesome. I love the retro aspect!
Thank you so much! I always take a bit extra time for palettes and even if the initial idea was pretty clear to me, these tiles changed a lot during the past months! At the very beginning, I planned those to be 8x8pixels, but I ultimately felt that was too cumbersome to work with.
This was the very beginning of the pack, with stark colors and lots of microtiling:
Working a bit on that, and making a few more tries and receiving feedback, I'm quite happy with the "easier on the eye" final result. :'>
IT BEGINS
YES
(Thank you so freaking much for all the support and encouragement!)
